Speaking to the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General and Vietnamese residents in Savannakhet province on June 22, Mr. Trong, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly, highlighted the time-honoured relation between the two countries and briefed them on the results of his meetings with Lao leaders.

He affirmed that both sides will spare no effort to strengthen the special relationship, which is the invaluable asset of the two nations.

Earlier, Mr. Trong paid a floral tribute to the late President Cayson Phomvihan at his memorial house and wrote in the autograph book that President Cayson Phomvihan was a great comrade and close friend of the Vietnamese people, who laid a firm foundation for the loyal Vietnam-Laos relationship.

The Vietnamese Party, State, and people will always bear in mind the warm sentiments of President Cayson Phomvihan and other Lao leaders towards Vietnam and will do their best to lift the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to a new height, he said.

On the afternoon of the same day, the Vietnamese Party leader left Savannakhet for Hanoi, concluding his visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
