Hanoi rolls out book street for Tet holiday
VOV.VN - A book street in celebration of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2018, which is being held in Hanoi from February 18 to 25, boasts more than 20 pavilions showcasing a wide variety of publications, magazines, and souvenirs.
The literature mart opened on the morning of the third day of Tet (February 18). More than 20 blossoming peach trees, a symbol of Tet, are placed along the book street. |
This is the third time such an event has been organized. In addition to the fixed pavilions, there are open spaces displaying foreign language books and those on economics, science and technology, and digital technology.

Stands offer Tet newspapers, present calligraphy arts, and also sell traditional children’s toys and handmade souvenirs. |
Some of the bookstores offer lucky money prizes or hold lucky draws for their customers. |
Children are accompanied by their parents as they browse all of the interesting stalls on book street. |
The event also attracts older people looking for some choice literature. |
Many activities are scheduled to take place during the eight-day event, such as exchanges between authors and readers, talks on Vietnamese customs, and the introduction of a book on world graphic art with the presence of Malaysian graffiti artist Mj Chai. |
