Khau Vai Love Market Festival opens in Ha Giang
VOV.VN - A festival celebrating traditional cultural values of the Dong Van ethnic minority people got underway on the evening of April 21 at the Khau Vai Village in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.
Legend has it that once upon a time a young man (Ba) and a girl (Ut) fall deeply in love, but are forbidden to be together because they are from different ethnic groups. |
They make a vow to meet once every year in the local market in the commune of Khau Vai on the 27th day of the third lunar month. |
The Khau Vai Love Market Festival is held on the 27th of the third lunar month every year (April 21 this year) in celebration of their unabiding love. |
The highlight of the festival is an art performance ‘Khau Vai Love Story’ that features the legendary love story of Ba and Ut. |
