FAO praises Vietnam’s achievements in agricultural development

(VOV) - Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Director-General José Graziano da Silva has hailed the good results of cooperative relations between his organization and Vietnam over recent years and the country’sagricultural development achievements.

At a recent reception for Vietnam Ambassador to Italy cum permanent representative to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Cao Chinh Thien who came to present his credentials, the FAO leader also applauded Vietnam’s active participation in the body’s activities, especially in such fields as rice cultivation, aquaculture, and South-South cooperation.

He suggested Vietnam should share experiences in the related field with South African nations under the framework of south-south cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Thien expressed his great honour to be designated as Vietnam’s FAO Permanent Representative while affirming the Vietnamese Government’s major focus on poverty reduction, and agricultural and rural development and its readiness to support FAO and the role of José Graziano da Silva in the globalpoverty reduction process.

Host and guest agreed that FAO’s reformed technical cooperation will facilitate improving the efficiency of technical cooperation with partner countries, including Vietnam.
