HCM City, Japan’s Aichi prefecture foster ties

Ho Chi Minh City and Japan’s Aichi prefecture on September 13 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to step up their cooperation and friendship for both sides' prosperity.

The deal, inked by Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and Governor of Aichi prefecture Hideaki Ohmura, also aims to contribute to deepening the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. 

The Ho Chi Minh City leader voiced hope to increase partnership with Aichi, especially in areas of the prefecture’s strength, such as automobile production technology,and hi-tech human resource training. 

He stressed that the MoU will help the two sides make more initiatives in bilateral cooperation so to open up new prospects for their investment and trade ties and broaden respective markets in the future. 

Meanwhile, Hideaki Ohmura spoke highly of the role and position of Ho Chi Minh City in the socio-economic growth of Vietnam . 

He noted that the number of Aichi firms investing in the city as well as people from Ho Chi Minh City studying and working in Aichi are increasing and that the MoU will meet the aspiration of both sides in fostering affiliation. 

The MoU will also generate opportunities for people of the two sides to become closer for the benefit of their localities, he said. 

The Aichi prefecture leader said his locality wants to work closely with Ho Chi Minh City in agriculture development, urban traffic management, and air transportation. 

Under the MoU, in the next five years, the two sides will increase cooperative activities in various areas, including economy, investment, trade, tourism, culture and human resource development. 

The two localities also agreed to bolster ties of the private sector in different fields, including economy and people-to-people exchange.
