President Quang upbeat about growing Vietnam-Israel relations

VOV.VN - President Tran Dai Quang has expressed his delight at the flourishing ties between Vietnam and Israel a cross a wide variety of fields-politics, security and defence, science-technology and agriculture. 

At a reception for Israeli Ambassador in Vietnam Meirav Eilon Shahar in Hanoi on October 31, the State leader said both nations should accelerate negotiations for the signing of a bilateral trade agreement and open a direct route thus facilitating their economic and tourism cooperation.

"Vietnam wants to learn from Israel’s experience in mitigating climate change impacts. The two sides also need to step up affiliation in science and technology, especially high technology," he added.

The Israeli diplomat in turn expressed her hope that the two nations will continue closer cooperation and offer mutual support at the regional and international forums, particularly the UN.


The Israel-Vietnam relations now not only focus on agriculture but also expand to other fields such as science-technology, defence and security, she said.

Two-way trade reached US$2.3 billion in 2015, she said expressing her belief that Vietnam’s agricultural products will access the Israeli market soon.

President Quang used the occasion to convey his invitation to visit Vietnam in the near future to his Israeli counterpart.
