State President meets with President of Sojitz Corporation

At the meeting, President Sato discussed the future intentions of Sojitz to invest in environmental infrastructure, power generation, and high-tech agriculture among numerous other projects in Vietnam.

He also highlighted the interest of Sojitz in education and the establishment of a grant and scholarship program to assist youth in Vietnam finance their post-secondary training.

In response, State President Quang thanked Mr Sato for the highly appreciated foreign direct investment in a large number of segments of the Vietnam economy over past years and pledged the government’s continued support and cooperation.

The State president reminded those in attendance at the meeting that Sojitz was the first Japanese company to establish a representative office in Vietnam subsequent to the launch of Doi Moi in 1986.

Sojitz was also the first Japanese company to be awarded the friendship order conferred by the Government of Vietnam, attributable to its dedication to the socio-economic development of the nation.

Today, the Sojitz Group consisting of Sojitz Corporation and its approximately 400 subsidiaries and affiliates located in Japan and throughout the world, is a wide-ranging general trading company with operations in a multitude of countries and regions employing nearly 14,500 employees.
