NA slated to adopt three laws on June 12

The National Assembly is slated to adopt two resolutions and three laws during its morning sitting on June 12, part of the on-going fifth session.

Deputy Dang Xuan Phuong of Dak Lak province speaks at an NA debate
The two draft resolutions put out to voting deal with the approval of the State budget balance in 2016 and the NA’s supervision programme for 2019.

The three bills are the Law on Competition (revised), the Law on Cyber Security and the Law on Denunciation (revised).

The draft revised competition law has one new chapter (Chapter VII) dealing with the national competition agency, its tasks and authority.

The bill on cyber security comprises 7 chapters and 47 articles. Before voting on the bill, the NA’s fifth session continued to discuss several matters, including security measures for information systems important to national security (Chapter II); prevention and handling of acts violating law on cyber security (Chapter III); and ensuring cyber information security for domestic and foreign agencies and organisations which provide cyber services or own information systems in Vietnam (Clauses 2 and 3 of Article 26).

Regarding the draft law on denunciation (revised), a majority of NA deputies supported the expansion of forms of denunciation to catch up with social development and to conform with stipulations in other laws. Therefore, the draft law allows the submission of denunciation by facsimile, email and phone besides the current two forms of face-to-face meeting and written petition. It also adds stipulations on the process of receiving denunciation to prevent the abuse of new forms of denunciation for wrong purposes.

In the afternoon of June 12, the NA will discuss the draft law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education.
