Forum promotes Vietnam's E-payment

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has highlighted mobile payments as the key factor in boosting a non-cash economy, creating new business models, and helping users directly benefit from the fourth industrial revolution.

He made the remarks at the Vietnam E-Payment Forum 2017, which transpired on November 6 in Hanoi.

"Vietnam has devised a number of policies and projects to encourage non-cash payment in general, and mobile payment in particular, to help the eople better benefit from numerous emerging e-services. We’re in the making of a national financial inclusion strategy and mobile payments will be a crucial part to realize this goal. The Vietnamese government pledges to create favorable conditions to boost e-payment in Vietnam,"Hue said. 

Deputy PM Hue also met with Executive Chairman of the Chinese Alibaba Group Jack Ma, who described Vietnam as a potential market to develop e-payment and shared his experience in e-commerce and e-payment via mobile devices in China as well as the globalization process of Alibaba.

Jack Ma promised to share Alibaba’s achievements in developing e-payment and sign deals on e-commerce and science and technology with Vietnam.  

Thomas Ko, General Management of Samsung Pay, said that Samsung aims to simplify payments using smartphones and to ensure safety along with convenience.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung said that Vietnam’s modern telecommunications infrastructure is facilitating the growth of other economic sectors.

Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Kim Anh underlined the need to build a legal framework for e-payment in the time to come.
