RoK helps Vietnam develop renewable energy

VOV.VN -The Vietnam Energy Association and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on March 16 co-organised an international conference on new technologies in power and renewable energy in Ho Chi Minh City.

Korean experts introduced renewable energy technologies to produce electricity for islands, remote areas, and high-rise buildings and to store electricity obtained at off-peak times.

RoK has committed to finance Vietnam US$5 million to develop solar power in Ho Chi Minh City.

Tran Viet Ngai, Chairman of the Vietnam Energy Association said, “The central and the southern regions have abundant sunshine and wind which are potential for developing renewable energy projects. Building renewable power plants can save and reduce pressure on the thermal power plants and the national electric grid.”
