Seminar discusses Vietnam, RoK food processing cooperation

(VOV) - A seminar was held in Seoul on June 26, attended by a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, discussing cooperation in the food processing industry.

In the keynote address, Vietnamese  ambassador to the RoK Pham Huu Chi highlighted the attractiveness of Vietnam as an investment destination with its dynamic young highly educated workforce and government committed to creating a business environment conducive to facilitating international investment.

For his part, Deputy Minister Hai echoed, Ambassador Chi’s remarks, extending an invitation to attendees to visit Vietnam to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of food processing, among other areas.

Hai reaffirmed the Vietnam Government’s commitments to create the best possible conditions for foreign investors  including Korean investors. Hai said that Vietnam’s relevant agencies have held numerous dialogues with members of the RoK business community in Vietnam in recent times in order to identify and remove obstacles related to administrative formalities, tax and customs procedures.

As of June 2014, the RoK ranks second among foreign investors in Vietnam with 3.827 projects capitalised at US$31.2 billion, primarily concentrated (58.7%) in the manufacturing and processing sectors.
