Vietnam Airlines and Japan’s ANA to officially cooperate from October 30

The Vietnamese national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, and Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) will officially implement cooperative programmes from October 30.

The two airlines will cooperate on ten international routes between Vietnam and Japan and 25 domestic ones in the two countries, being expected to further bring convenience to customers.

In addition, passengers who have ANA Mileage Club and Vietnam Airlines’ Lotusmiles membership cards can earn miles when flying with both airlines.

These are the first cooperative activities since ANA Holdings completed its transaction to take possession of 8.77% of Vietnam Airlines’ stakes, worth over VND2.4 trillion (US$109 million), to become a strategic shareholder of Vietnam Airlines in July.

Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said cooperation with ANA Holdings, which owns the airline, which offers some of the best service in the region and world, would help Vietnam Airlines to diversify its products as well as to improve its competitiveness on the international market.

Through long-term cooperative strategies, along with experience from ANA, it is expected that it will become easier for Vietnam Airlines to become a five-star airline.

Vietnam Airlines’ flight attendants will notify passengers on ANA’s flights and vice versa.

General Director of ANA Holdings Shinya Katanozaka emphasised that ANA and Vietnam Airlines would connect Vietnam with Japan, contributing to promoting the development of their economies and cultures, as well as the relations between the two nations.
