Kolon Industries considers opening plant in Ha Nam

VOV.VN - The northern Vietnam province of Ha Nam is gaining a reputation as a manufacturing hub, but Kolon Industries may soon add another feather to the cap of the local economy.

“It has not been decided yet,” said Choi Yeong Moo, deputy general director of Kolon Industries following a meeting on March 16 with the local Provincial People’s Committee, but it seems to make good sense.

Mr Moo told a Vietnamese newspaper that the company is considering constructing a manufacturing plant producing fabrics for tyres. The project has a proposed construction budget of US$200 million.

It would be built on a 30 ha site in one of the industrial zones in the province.

Kolon Industries is an international manufacturing brand based out of the Republic of Korea – operating in the industrial materials, chemical, films/electronic materials and fashion industries.

It has operated in southern Vietnam for approximately the past 30 years, but this venture would be its first in the northern part of the Southeast Asian nation.
