RoK eyes waste treatment projects in Can Tho

VOV.VN - The Korean Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) Director Gun Young Jung has revealed that his agency desires to study cooperation opportunities to build waste treatment plants in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

During a working session with Vice Secretary of the municipal Can Tho Party Committee Pham Gia Tuc on October 10,  Gun Young Jung said his nation has new cutting edge and eco-friendly waste treatment technology suitable with the economic development orientation and climate change adaptation in the Mekong Delta.

Waste will be recycled and reused or changed into energy to serve daily activities, he said.

Tuc said he hopes Can Tho will join hand with the KITEC in this field, saying the city discharges 700 tonnes of waste on a day while the waste treatment system could handle only 400 tonnes per day.

Can Tho has available 15 hectares of land for building waste treatment plants and it is willing to welcome investors using modern and environmentally friendly technologies, Tuc said while asking the RoK to expand investment in medical and solid waste treatment.

He also pledged local authorities's possible support in terms of administrative procedures, tax incentives and land use.
