Vietnam to expand Macadamia on nearly 10,000ha by 2020
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has officially adopted a Macadamia development plan for north-western and Central Highlands regions by 2020 with a vision for 2030.
The area expansion will be based on the planting results in the period between now and 2020. MARD will coordinate with relevant agencies and provinces to make specific plans for each locality.
Meanwhile, MARD also plans to build another 12 Macadamia processing factories with a capacity of 50-200 tons in north-western and Central Highlands regions.
It will focus on both home and overseas markets while gradually carrying out promotion measures and setting up distribution networks towards developing a trademark for Vietnamese Macadamia nuts.
The ministry also implements policies to encourage cooperation between businesses and farmers for the development of material areas and purchasing and processing of Macadamia nuts.
