Ambassador highlights huge potential for stronger ties with Czech Republic

VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Czech Republic boast huge potential to increase co-operation, especially in fields of their strengths and demands such as education-training, skilled human resources training, renewable energy, and green transition, according to Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam.

In a recent courtesy visit made to Markéta Pekarová Adamová, president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Ambassador Nam thanked the chamber and its leader for backing efforts to deepen the mutual relations.

He asked the Czech chamber and Adamová to urge the European Council (EC) to remove the "yellow card" warning placed against Vietnamese seafood at the earliest opportunity to support the sector’s sustainable development.

The diplomat also voiced his hope that Adamová will support the establishment of a Vietnamese cultural centre in Prague, whilst continuing offering favourable conditions for Vietnamese people. This will enable them to be able to better integrate into the host society, as well as uphold their role as a bridge to promote the friendship between the nation and the Czech Republic.

In response, Adamová hailed the traditional friendship and all-around ties of co-operation that exist between the two countries, including robust parliamentary links, adding that the enhanced delegation exchanges at a high level affirm their political resolve and efforts to elevate the bilateral ties to a new high.

There remains ample room for the two countries to enhance collaboration in economy-trade-investment, culture, and tourism, she said, expressing her hope that a direct air route will be opened soon as part of efforts to promote bilateral trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.

She also hailed the contributions made by the Vietnamese community to local socio-economic development efforts, affirming that the Czech Parliament, Government and people are proud of the decision that recognises the community as an ethnic minority group of the Central European country.

On the basis of sound political relations, she suggested that the two countries bolster parliamentary diplomatic co-operation, particularly promoting mechanisms and dialogues between committees and friendship parliamentarians’ groups, as well as working hand in hand to offer mutual support at regional and international forums like the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP).
