Brunei, Vietnam forge defence cooperation

(VOV) -A delegation from the Royal Brunei Armed Force led by Major General and Commander Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Bin Abdullah is paying an official friendship to Vietnam from June 7-9 at the invitation of  Senior Lieutenant General, Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA). 

A welcoming ceremony for the Brunei Major General and his delegation was solemnly held at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Hanoi on June 8.

At a reception for Brunei delegates, General Phung Quang Thanh deemed their visit necessary to deepen understanding, mutual trust and defence cooperation between the two countries while hoping that the working visit would contribute to strengthening defence ties for mutual benefit and for the sake of peace and stability in the region and in the world.

Over recent years, relations between the VPA and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces have constantly blossomed in various realms as a result of enhanced high level visit exchange of young officers, closer naval cooperation and effective personnel training.

The result of cooperation between the two armies has practically contributed to the process of building the ASEAN Community by the end of this year with three pillars in which the politics-security pillar plays an important role in promoting regional peace and stability in the region and facilitating the development of each member state as well as the whole ASEAN community for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and around the world.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty also hold talks with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander.
