Vietnam and Russia to work on President Putin's Hanoi visit

VOV.VN - Relevant agencies of Vietnam and Russia will work closely to arrange the upcoming visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin, according to Nguyen Duc Thang, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited President Putin to pay an official visit to Vietnam during the March 26 phone call between the two leaders, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.

The two sides will work to arrange an appropriate time for the visit, said the deputy spokesperson at a regular press briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on March 28.  

President Putin was re-elected head of the Russian Federation for the 2024-2030 term in the presidential election in mid-March with 87.28% of votes in favour.

In his phone call, Party leader Trong congratulated President Putin on his reelection and affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, considering this one of the top priorities in its foreign policy.

President Putin expressed joy at the positive developments of Russia - Vietnam relations in all fields and affirmed that Vietnam is always a friend and reliable partner of the Russian Federation.

The two leaders agreed on a number of major directions to promote bilateral cooperation in fields such as security - defense, economy - trade, culture, and tourism, among others.
