Hanoi, Greece city seek ways to boost stronger ties

VOV.VN - Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung said Hanoi desires to intensify exchanges and cooperation with cities and provinces of countries across the globe, including Edessa city of Greece while receiving Vice Mayor of Edessa Anastasios Diou in Hanoi on April 12.

In 2017 alone, the capital city of Hanoi welcomed roughly 3,000 Greek visitors and Greek businesses have invested in various areas in Vietnam, including tourism, he told his guest.

With a population of nearly 10 million and area of more than 3,000 square kilometers, Hanoi is seen as a potential market for both domestic and foreign businesses, he said, adding that the city is expecting to welcome a delegation of Greek businesses to invest in the city.

Hung said he hopes that the exchanges and connectivity between Hanoi and Edessa will contribute to elevating the Vietnam-Greece friendship to a higher level.

In reply, Diou said this is the first time a delegation of high-ranking officials from Edessa city has visited and had a working session with a city of Vietnam. The visit is designed to learn more about local culture and history, and augment cooperation in tourism between localities, especially with Hanoi and central Nghe An province.

He expressed his belief that after the working visit to Hanoi, the relations between the two cities will grow further in future.

The Vice Mayor assured that leaders of Edessa city will urge Greek businesses to increase investments into Hanoi as well as other Vietnamese cities and provinces.
