Party, Government, NA leaders host RoK President

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National  Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted separate receptions in Hanoi on March 23 for President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (RoK).

At the reception, the Party leader welcomed the RoK President's visit, which, he believes that will contribute to deepening the ties between the two countries. He also noted with satisfaction the growing Vietnam-RoK cooperation across various fields, especially economic trade and investment.

He said Vietnam always sticks importance to the relations with the RoK and urged the two governments should take more measures to boost all-around cooperation, create a firm political, economic and social foundation and further deepen the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership.

President Moon, in turn, hailed the combined efforts of the two countries’ leaders and peoples in reinforcing the bilateral relations over the past 25 years.

He affirmed his nation's readiness to join hands with Vietnam to enhance the two countries’ future relations, delivering practical benefits to both peoples for peace, security, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world.

The RoK values the relations with Vietnam and regards the country as an important partner in Southeast Asia, he said while hoping that the two countries will continue to work together to deepen the bilateral ties and soon elevate the relationship to a higher level in future.

President Moon invited Party General Secretary Trong to visit the RoK at a convenient time. The later accepted the invitation with pleasure.

Meeting with the RoK President, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the Korea’s new Southern Policy for peaceful cooperation, saying that Vietnam always wants to promote trusted comprehensive cooperation with the RoK and its links between the RoK and the ASEAN. 

He laid stress on the significance of the visit which takes place at a time when relations between Vietnam and the RoK are growing well in diverse fields and have gained plenty of achievements over the past 25 years in the spirit of strategic partnership of mutual trust.

The PM expressed hope that the forthcoming high-level talks between the RoK and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and between the DPRK and the US will be successful, thereby promoting peace, stability and cooperation in the Korean peninsula and the world.

Phuc stated that Vietnam wants the RoK to provide Vietnam with preferential credit packages, and effectively realise the financial cooperation agreement worth US$12 billion for projects on transport infrastructure, technology transfer, revising the agreement on double taxation avoidance, and help Vietnam build the e-government

President Moon informed the Prime Minister of  recently-signed cooperative agreements in industrial manufacturing and energy to expand cooperation with Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The RoK Government will continue incentivising its businesses to invest in Vietnam, share their experiences and technologies to increase Vietnam’s production capacity, he told PM Phuc.

He reiterated his country's readiness to support and share its experience with Vietnam in carrying out its goals of modernisation and industrialisation by 2020, affirming that the US$100 billion bilateral trade target by 2020 is achievable.

Talking to the Korean President, NA Chairwoman Ngan called for more exchanges of experience in legislation and supervision while accelerating the implementation of signed agreement by the two governments. 

The Vietnamese top legislator said she believes the Korean President's visit will be successful, contributing to the consolidation and development of the strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries. She also congratulated the Korea for successfully organizing the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games as a positive contribution to peace, stability and friendship exchange and cooperation among countries in the region and in the world.

She suggested the RoK government help Vietnam develop human resources, science-technology and the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology; and expand partnership in culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchange.

President Moon assured his country's willingness to assist Vietnam in developing support industry and attract RoK investment into local hi-tech industries and he vowed to work together with Vietnam to support and protect Vietnamese brides and the two nations' future generations.

He said the RoK is promoting its new Southern Policy and expects closer cooperation with the ASEAN, noting that Vietnam is the most important cooperation partner.
