PM concludes official visit to Laos

VOV.VN - On April 27 Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc departed the Vattay International Airport in Vientiane for Hanoi, concluding his first official visit to Laos since he took office. 

During his two-day trip to Laos, PM Phuc visited the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum and a commemorative area dedicated to late President Souphanouvong, and met with representatives from late President Kaysone Phomvihane’s family.

Earlier, the PM, his wife and delegation paid tribute and laid a wreath at the unknown martyrs’ monument in Vientiane. 

The government leader met with Vietnam Embassy staff in Laos and Vietnamese community representatives in the country, briefing them on the country’s socio-economic development over recent years.

He called for greater efforts from the community to contribute to further reinforcing the Vietnam-Laos relations, saying the community needs to strictly comply with the host country’s laws, preserve the national tradition and culture, and make more contributions to the homeland’s development.

In his working session with Embassy representatives, the PM praised Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung and all staff of the diplomatic agency for their endeavours to fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State and Government. 

He asked them to continue upholding their responsibility and better their duties in the time to come as a contribution to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

PM Phuc also paid visits to former Party chief and President of Laos Khamtay Siphandone and General Sisavath Keobounphanh, former Prime Minister and President of the Lao Front for National Construction. 

Meeting with members of the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos, the government leader asked them to focus on fields of Vietnam’s strengths, and increase investment in the country.
