PM pledges favourable conditions for Czech businesses

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope that Vietnam and the Czech Republic will expand their cooperation in economics, trade, and investment.

At a June 2 reception for Vitezslav Grepl, Czech newly-accredited Ambassador to Vietnam in Hanoi, PM Phuc pledged the best possible conditions for Czech businesses to learn about the market and business opportunities in Vietnam and called on Czech businesses to consider investing in areas that Vietnam needs.

He also urged the Czech Republic to support the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the EU, sign the EU-Vietnam FTA, and receive Vietnamese highly-skilled workers to work in Czech.

Phuc said last year's two-way trade hit 249.5 million, which is still modest and below par with their potential.

The PM thanked the Czech Republic for recognising the overseas Vietnamese community as ethnic minority.

Ambassador Vitezslav Grepl said the Vietnam-Czech relationship has been developing with exchanges of high-level visits.

He applauded Vietnam’s preparations for the upcoming visit by the Czech President, saying that the President will be accompanied by a large business delegation, who will hold a business forum between the two countries.

He said the number of Czech tourists to Vietnam is on the rise and expressed his wish that two countries will soon open a direct air route, and Vietnam will exempt visa for Czech visitors.

The Czech Republic is the only country in Europe to recognise the overseas Vietnamese community as ethnic minority, which signifies the Czech government and people highly values and respects Vietnamese expatriates, he said.
