Vietnam treasures solidarity with Cuba

VOV.VN - Vietnam always attaches great importance to strengthening solidarity and comprehensive cooperation  with Cuba, said President Tran Dai Quang at a June 12 reception for Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez in Hanoi.

President Quang urged the Vietnamese and Cuban Parties and States to continuously direct ministries and relevant departments to promote the existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms and revamp a legal framework for stable and long-term collaboration.

He praised the outcome of the talks between the Cuban top legislator and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and hoped the two legislative bodies will boost ties bilaterally and multilaterally.

He affirmed Vietnam's willing to share experience in reform and do its utmost to support Cuban people to overcome difficulties and challenges.

The State leader recognized the effective cooperation mechanisms between the two countries such as the Parties’ theoretical workshop, the inter-governmental committee’s meeting, the deputy foreign ministers’ political consultation, and the deputy defence ministers’ strategic dialogue.

Quang underlined the need for both sides to tap great potential in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, noting that more Vietnamese businesses are paying heed to the Cuban market.

He noted with satisfaction close bilateral coordination and mutual assistance at multilateral forums and international organizations, especially at the United Nations, saying Vietnam pursues persistent stance of supporting the early removal of embargo against Cuba.

For his part, Esteban Lazo Hernandez said Vietnam has a wealth of experience in agriculture and energy and hoped cooperation in this field will grow further.
