VUFO Vice President receives World Peace Council guests

Secretary General and Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong lauded the World Peace Council (WPC) for contributing to the world peace movement over the past years.

VUFO Secretary General and Vice President Don Tuan Phong
He made the praise during a reception in Hanoi on November 23 for an international delegation attending the Congress of the WPC Executive Committee, scheduled for the next day in Vietnam following the previous one in Brazil in 2016.

Phong said VUFO is a socio-political organisation undertaking people-to-people diplomacy in the fields of peace, solidarity, friendship and people-to-people cooperation. It works to diversify and strengthen friendship and collaboration between Vietnam and countries in economy, culture, education, science-technology for the sake of peace, development, equality, sustainability and social progress.

Amid uncertain developments in the region and the world, Phong wished that the WPC and its members, including the Vietnam Peace Committee, would continue fulfilling its mission to tighten people-to-people solidarity and maintain global peace.

President of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples Silvio Platero Yrola affirmed that though geographically distant, the Vietnamese and Cuban Parties, States and peoples always offer mutual support for peace.

Secretary General of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation Pallab Sengupta expressed hope that Vietnam will raise many solutions to the world peace movement and the WPC in particular.
