16 Vietnamese injured in Taiwan gold ball factory blast
VOV.VN - Sixteen Vietnamese workers were injured in a blast at a golf ball factory in Pingtung city, Taiwan (China) on September 22, confirmed the Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
All Vietnamese workers did not suffer life-threatening injuries, said Nguyen Gia Liem, deputy director of DOLAB.
Among them, he said three were seriously injured, and three were discharged from hospital following medical examinations.
DOLAB directed the Vietnamese guestworkers management agency in Taiwan to coordinate with Taiwanese authorities, employers and brokerage companies to inquire into the situation of Vietnamese workers and seek to protect their legal rights and interests.
Currently, Taiwanese authorities have given initial allowances for workers suffering serious and moderate injuries.
According to sources, 106 Vietnamese nationals are working at the factory.
The massive fire caused by an explosion at the gold ball factory in Pingtung Science Park on September 22 evening killed six people, including four firefighters, and injured 98 others. Five remain missing.
