20 iPhones 15 smuggled from Thailand seized at Da Nang airport
VOV.VN - Police operating in Da Nang said on October 3 that they arrested a Thai passenger who was carrying 20 iPhones 15 Pro Max from Bangkok into the central city without declaring them.
According to authorities, whilst going through standard checking processes on September 23, customs officials working at Da Nang International Airport checked the Thai passenger’s carry-on luggage and found 20 iPhone 15 Pro Max phones without boxes.
The suspect, identified as Natus Temmaythawittayalert, confessed that he had to opened the seals of the mobile phones and put them separately inside a carton alongside various accessories and mixed them in with candies and cakes.
Together, the haul of items is worth more than VND654 million, equal to US$26,831.
The 22-year-old Thai smuggler also admitted that he had been carrying the iPhones 15 Pro Max to resell them to an unidentified man named Do Rrik, with the price being VND39 million per mobile phone.
The case is currently under further investigation for clarification.
