Around 35 million Vietnamese use Facebook

About 35 million Vietnamese, roughly one-third of the population, have Facebook accounts, according to a recent report from the company.

“Southeast Asia is a dynamic ‘mobile first’ region and fastest growing region for Facebook. Connecting the more than 241 million people in Southeast Asia – including 35 million Vietnamese – on Facebook to friends and family, businesses, and moments that matter to them, is at the core of everything we do,” says Keneth Bishop, managing director of Southeast Asia, Facebook.

Facebook also reported a new milestone: three million active advertisers on the social network – a significant growth of 50% from February 2015 to February 2016.

A large part of that growth is being driven by advertisers in Southeast Asia (SEA), who are beyond traditional advertising channels to reach the region’s mobile first consumers, Facebook said in the report.

“Small businesses are at the heart of local economies in Southeast Asia. We are committed to helping local businesses grow,” says Huynh Kim Tuoc, team leader of Emerging Markets, SEA, Facebook.

“More than three million businesses advertise on Facebook globally. SEA is the fastest growing region. More local businesses now turn to Facebook Pages for their mobile business solutions. More than 73% of people in Vietnam are connected to small- and medium-sized business pages,” he added.

For example, the baby clothes retailer babi.vn created a strong Facebook community for mothers in Vietnam, and its revenue tripled in one year.

California Fitness and Yoga Center is a chain of fitness centres which successfully gained ground in the Vietnamese market by reaching nine million people in just five months.

With the help of Facebook, their fanbase increased by almost 500,000 fans in one year, resulting in a 10%increase in membership sales.
