Brunei detains Vietnamese fishing vessel, crew

VOV.VN - The Royal Brunei Navy on March 16 captured a Vietnamese fishing vessel coded PY90541TS with 10 fishermen on board while they were fishing in  Brunei territorial waters, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force.

Ten Vietnamese fishermen aged 18-50 were handed over to coast guard forces for further investigation.

According to Brunei law, if the Vietnamese fishermen are found guilty, the captain may be sentenced to five years in prison and subjected to a maximum fine of US$71,271 while a fisherman will receive a one-year prison sentence and be fined US$1,784.
