Bus carrying 29 tourists catches fire near Hai Van Pass

VOV.VN - A passenger bus carrying 28 foreign tourists suddenly erupted into flames near the peak of Hai Van Pass at 10 am on 15 February.

The 39-seat bus was being driven by 34-year-old Le Quoc Thanh, travelling from Hoi An ancient town to Hue city. As the bus was reaching the highest point of Hai Van Pass in Hoa Hiep ward, Lien Chieu district in Da Nang city, it suddenly burst into flames.

According to local authorities, an electrical short-circuit was the most likely culprit in causing the fire to spark. Fortunately, the 29 foreign visitors escaped the fire and no injuries have been reported so far.

After receiving notification of the incident, traffic police, fire prevention police, and fire fighters swiftly dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire and ensure traffic security.

Lieutenant colonel Tran Anh Duc in Lien Chieu district said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to an initial assessment, an electrical short-circuit at the back of the bus is the most likely the cause of the incident.
