COVID-19: Six imported cases bring national tally to 1,140

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on October 19 confirmed an additional six cases of COVID-19 imported into Vietnam, with five coming from Russia and one from France, bring the national tally to 1,140.

Among the newly detected patients, five new cases being Vietnamese citizens who entered Van Don Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh from Russia on flight VN5062 on October 16 and one imported case is a French expert entering Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City on flight EK392 on October 17.

All the patients were put into isolation upon entry and are currently being under health observation for COVID-19 treatment after their test results came back positive for the virus.

Also the same day, 15 coronavirus patients were released from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,046, while 35 people have passed away due to the novel virus.

Of the country’s total infections, 691 are locally transmitted cases, and 449 are imported cases.

Among the patients still under treatment, 18 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least once, or several times.

At present, the number of people coming into close contact with confirmed cases, or returning from pandemic-hit regions under health monitoring stands at close to 12,780, including 167 at hospitals nationwide, with the remainder based at other sites, at home, or at different accommodation facilities.
