Drug traffickers arrested in HCM City bust

VOV.VN - The Police Department for the Investigation of Drug-Related Crimes (PC 47) in Ho Chi Minh City said on January 5 that they had arrested Nguyen Van Toan 41 (commonly known as Tung), as he was in the process of transporting 13,000 ecstasy pills and 0.5kg of Ketamine.

Tung is one of ‘godfathers’ in a supply chain which distributes vast quantities of heroin to smaller dealers around Ho Chi Minh City. He initially admitted that he often bought boxes of 1,000 ecstasy pills at a price of US$9,800.

In another case, HCM City police captured Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, 37, who was involved the distribution of heroin to drug users in the city.

Ha confessed that she could earn more than VND100 million each cake of heroin sold after cutting it with adulterants.

Ha was caught red-handed in the act of supplying an addict with heroin at Vuon Chuoi market in District 3. Upon conducting a search of her house, police seized more than 10kg of heroin.

The two cases are under further investigation.
