Fishermen hit by Philippine vessel return home safely

Seven fishermen in the central province of Quang Binh returned home safe and sound on July 17 after their ship was hit by a Philippine cargo vessel and sunk near the waters of Con Dao island in central Quang Tri province on July 4.

Nguyen Ba Luc, 20, said the Philippine cargo vessel conducted search and rescue work right after the incident and brought the Vietnamese fishermen on board where they were provided with food and medical checks.

The fishermen from Quang Binh’s Canh Duong commune, Quang Trach district, stayed on the Philippines vessel for four days in service of a local investigation.

They later completed necessary procedures to travel through Malaysia and fly home.
