Flooding in Central Region leaves 4 dead, 1 missing

VOV.VN - Floods caused by heavy overnight rain hit parts of the Central Region of Vietnam, leaving four people confirmed dead, another one missing with an additional five serious injuries, authorities said on December 2.

The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention in the Central and Central Highland region reported Binh Dinh Province suffered four deaths and three are unaccounted for but presumed alive.

Quang Ngai Province had one missing and two injuries due to the flooding.

The Steering Committee said floodwaters also submerged more than 4,200 houses in the Central Region. Torrential rains have also caused water levels at reservoirs to overflow their banks in the provinces of Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh.

Heavy rains are forecast to continue for the next several days at localities from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh because of cold weather.
