Giant Chung cake commemorates Hung Kings’ Festival

VOV.VN - A 2.5-tonne Chung cake (square glutinous rice cake) was made by 50 artisans at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on April 13-15 to commemorate Hung Kings’ Festival, which falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month (April 16).


Artisans prepared 1.2 tonnes of glutinous rice,

300kg of mung beans,

200kg of pork,

and 300kg of banana leaves to make Chung cake.




 




The cake is 60cm high.



It took 70 hours to cook the giant cake.

The well-done cake will be taken out at 10pm on April 15.

The giant Chung cake will be offered to Hung Kings from 8am on April 16 to 10am on April 17. 

After that the cake will be cut into small pieces for around 1,000 people.
