The HCM City Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphan Children held a festival on January 27 to present Tet gifts to nearly 2,000 disabled people, orphan children and other disadvantaged kids at the Phan Dinh Phung competition house.

The sponsors’ Tet gifts worth more than VND4.5 billion included confectionaries, clothes and lucky money. Many art performances and lion dances were also held during the festival.

Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy chairwoman of the HCM City People’s Committee highlighted the sponsors’ great contributions, saying that in the current process of Doi Moi (Renewal) and international integration, the country will be more prosperous and that mutual love among the Vietnamese community will be even more steadfast. She said there remain many things to be done in the field of social welfare to take better care of poor and disabled people and disadvantaged children.

On the occasion, the Association received the Labour Order, third Class presented by State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
