HCM City to install odour-control manholes
HCM City will install odour-control manholes to eliminate the foul smell emanating from sewers and reduce flood risks, according to the municipal People’s Committee.
The manhole has an odour-control system and a net to prevent garbage and soil from going into the sewers and creatures like rats from coming out.
The new manholes are made by the HCM City Urban Drainage Company Limited, and cost around VND20 million (US$883) each.
The city has more than 87,000 manholes in its roads and plans to replace around 50 of them on 15 streets.
