Hue city’s water environment to be improved

The central province of Thua-Thien Hue is accelerating a project to improve the water environment in the former imperial city of Hue, which is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The VND4.2 trillion (US$188.3 million) project is divided into two phases, with the first one implemented until 2018 in ten wards in the south of Huong River. Feasible projects and detail designs for the full development of the city’s water drainage system will be carried out in the second phase.

To date, two of the six bidding packages have been completed while other packages like Hoi River dredging and construction of a 50-kilometre pipeline are underway.

In the main package, seven pumping stations and a waste treatment plant with capacity of 30,000 cubic metres per day and night will be constructed in An Dong district.

The project is expected to be completed in late September this year.
