IBM helps Binh Duong in smart city building

The global information technology giant IBM, on April 3, kicked off its project to support the southern province of Binh Duong in accelerating the implementation of its vision to become a smarter city between now and 2020.

Under the IBM Corporate Service Corps (CSC), in the next four weeks, 14 IBM experts from nine countries will offer free consultation services to the local Department of Information and Communications, IT & Communication Centre, Quality Assurance and Testing Centre, and Thu Dau Mot University.

The IBM experts will assist the Binh Duong Department of Information and Communications’ project on building a business data management system, which aims to make profiles of all small- and medium-sized and foreign-funded enterprises operating in the province.

They will help the local IT & Communication Centre and Quality Assurance and Testing Centre develop their respective projects on information management and effective sales.

Thu Dau Mot University, meanwhile, will receive support to design an e-learning strategy.

The CSC is an initiative from the giant IBM to carry its social responsibilities. The programme sends IBMers to assist communities facing critical challenges and nurtures the next generation of IBM leaders across the globe.

Since its launch in 2008, it has sent over 3000 volunteers in over 275 teams to support more than 1000 projects in nearly 40 countries around the world.

Fourteen teams of IBM experts from the programme have come to Vietnam to help non-profit organisations, training facilities and SMEs across 11 provinces and cities.
