Indonesia Ambassador honoured with friendship insignia
Outgoing Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Mayerfas was presented the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” on January 25, in recognition of his contributions to enhancing the two countries’ relations.
During the diplomat’s tenure in Vietnam, the bilateral relationship was consolidated and developed significantly, as reflected through the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two nations in June, 2013, and the signing of more than 30 cooperation agreements in various fields, and growing two-way trade value and investment.
As of the end of 2015, Indonesia was the fifth biggest investor in Vietnam among ASEAN nations, with 39 projects.
During the period, relations between the two countries’ ministries, sectors and peoples have been fostered, with the highlight being the formation of the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association last year.
Speaking at the event, Vu Xuan Hong, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), attributed the great achievements in bilateral ties over the past four years to tireless efforts made by the ambassador.
The ambassador said that he is honoured to receive such a noble reward fom the VUFO.
He vowed to continue working to cement the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations and peoples.
