New Zealand Embassy announces scholarship recipients

(VOV) - The first 30 Vietnamese students to receive New Zealand Scholarships for 2016 to study at top institutions on the Pacific Ocean island have been unveiled by Ambassador to Vietnam Haike Manning.

In making the announcement, Ambassador Manning said it’s important to give Vietnamese young people a deeper understanding of New Zealand culture because it’s crucial to the future of both nations.

“New Zealand’s prosperity is tied into being an open, trading nation that is confident of its position in the Asia-Pacific rim in general and Vietnam in particular,” said the Ambassador.

He said New Zealand’s investment in these full scholarships will help strengthen our people to people linkages in a nation that has rapidly become increasingly important to New Zealand both economically and culturally.

The students selected are the international marketers, the traders, the diplomats, and the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and it is great to see them have the opportunity to understand New Zealand culture while they are studying.

The New Zealand embassy is now accepting applications for future scholarship awards. More specific information can be found at http://www.aid.govt.nz/funding-and-contracts/scholarships/eligible-countries/viet-nam .
