Overseas Vietnamese contribute to national development

VOV.VN - There are more than 4.5 million overseas Vietnamese living in 109 countries and territories around the world. They have become united and gained significant success that elevates Vietnam’s status in the world. 

Overseas Vietnamese have over the years contributed greatly to Vietnam’s development.

The Vietnamese Party and State have over the years paid special attention to overseas Vietnamese. 

Highlighting the important role of overseas Vietnamese, a resolution of the 12th National Party Congress states that overseas Vietnamese are an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation. 

The Vietnamese Party and State hope that overseas Vietnamese will further contribute to national development during the integration process:

Devotion to the homeland

Overseas Vietnamese followed with keen interest the recent 12th National Party Congress. They expressed their belief that the success of the Congress would bring about important transformation for Vietnam. 

At a New Year meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Hoang Manh Hue, President of the Vietnam Union of Business Associations in Europe, said, “We are very happy with the outcomes of the 12th National Party Congress. The Party, the State, the army and the people are determined to push forward the renewal process to further national growth and accelerate international integration."

"We hope that the Party and State will create more opportunities for us to participate in the renewal process and national development. Overseas Vietnamese people are determined to unite,” he added.

Overseas Vietnamese praised the Vietnamese Party and State’s care and assistance. 

They highlighted the Party’s recognition of overseas Vietnamese in the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.

Phan Bich Thien, Head of the Fund for Hungary- Vietnam Relations, shared, “Documents of the 12th National Party Congress continue to consider overseas Vietnamese an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation."

"This encourages us a lot. The documents stipulate the protection of Vietnamese citizens abroad. In addition to calling on overseas Vietnamese to contribute to the homeland, the Party and State help and protect them. This strengthens the bond between overseas Vietnamese and the homeland,” he noted.

Participating in Vietnam’s international integration

In the new period of development, Vietnam will face numerous difficulties and challenges. The 12th National Party Congress outlined major orientations to achieve the goal of a prosperous people, strong country, just society, democracy and civilization. 

Vietnam will further promote national unity and tap the potential of overseas Vietnamese to achieve its goals. 

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said,“Overseas Vietnamese contributed to compiling the Documents of the 12th National Party Congress. At the opening and closing sessions, I expressed my thanks to overseas Vietnamese around the world."

"The documents stress the importance of renewal, industrialization and modernization and giving top priority to national interests. To this end, the Party, the State and the whole political system needs to be strong and transparent. It’s also important to strengthen national unity which is a motivation for national development,” he stressed.

Overseas Vietnamese say they are confident that Vietnam will continue to develop in the coming years.
