Red Journey needs blood donations

VOV.VN - The 2016 National Red Journey blood drive launched on July 1 in Ho Chi Minh City with a call for 500,000 blood and platelet donations due to a critically low supply this summer.

More than 170 individual volunteers are participating in this year’s fourth edition of the collection effort running July 1-31 at 27 locations throughout the country.

It is also seeking to sign up 25,000 individuals who are willing to donate on a regular basis throughout the year.

Donations are urgently needed now to meet the needs of hospital patients in the coming days and weeks, said campaign workers.

We need at least 20,000 blood units on reserve for emergency treatments during the summer months.

The event has been organized as part of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation campaign.

As many as 400 donate on July 6 at Phu Quoc Island

Donors include staff of army, police, courts and schools
