The Vietnam Bar Federation (VBF) should take the initiative to unite lawyers to protect justice and the socialist legal system to create a democratic, equitable, and civilized society, said Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong.

Deputy PM Trong made this request on May 20 at a ceremony in Hanoi to celebrate the VBF’s 2nd anniversary. He said the Federation’s recent achievements illustrate the power, unity, and intelligence of Vietnamese lawyers’.

Mr. Trong asked the VBF to implement the 11th National Party Congress Resolution, follow the principles of professional ethics, and complete its organizational structure to ensure effective operations.

He said he believes that the VBF will be able to contribute more to the country’s development.

Speaking at the ceremony, VBF President Le Thuc Anh affirmed that the establishment of the Federation was a milestone of legal development in Vietnam and showed the attention given to Vietnamese lawyers by the Party and State.

Since its establishment, the VBF has been an umbrella for lawyers across the country, Anh said, adding that the federation has not only provided training courses to build the capacity of lawyers, it has also expanded international cooperation to exchange experience.
