Vietnam-China Youth Festival to take place next week

The third Vietnam-China Youth Festival will take place in Vietnam from November 7-10 to cement friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries’young people.

As an initiative of the high-ranking leaders of the two countries, the event contributes to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and China.

This festival, themed “Vietnam-China youth join hands in fostering friendship”, is expected to draw the participation of thousands of Vietnamese young people and 1,000 Chinese counterparts.

Main activities will take place in Hanoi and six provinces namely Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh. In Lang Son and Quang Ninh, the festival will focus on environmental protection and sustainable development.

In Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh and Phu Tho, activities will look at preserving cultural identities and developing tourism while those in Lao Cai will represent the pioneering role of youth in socio-economic development.

The Vietnam-China youth art exchange programme and the closing ceremony will be held in Hanoi.

During their stay in the capital city, the Chinese delegation will pay floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum as well as visit the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper and several outstanding businesses.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Chinese Communist Youth Union signed Vietnam-China youth cooperation agreements in 2000 and since then diverse and practical activities have been held.

Besides the festival, many meetings and exchange programmes have helped young people of the two countries’ provinces that share the border boost friendship and cooperation.

The first festival was organised in Guangxi province, China, in August 2010, and the second took place in November 2013 in the Zhuang Autonomous Region in Guangxi province.
