Vietnam joins World Festival of Youth and Students in Russia

VOV.VN - A Vietnamese delegation comprising 116 members will attend the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students on October 14-22 in Sochi, Russia, said a representative from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCMCYU) at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 11.

The HCMCYU Secretary and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Phi Long said the festival will offer a good chance for Vietnam to promote its land and people, introduce the HCMCYU and other youth organizations and the role of youth in national construction and defence, and enhance solidarity, friendship and cooperation with international friends.


Vietnam’s participation firms up its position, demonstrating responsibility and active contributions to world youth and student movements for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress. 
It also helps strengthen friendship and cooperation ties with Russian youth organizations and partners and deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, said Mr Long.

At the festival, Vietnam delegation will deliver speeches at conferences and seminars across a range of topics. It will collaborate with other delegations to organize an exhibition and a friendship pavilion to prom
ote Vietnam images, focusing on the young generation and socio-economic achievements. It will also display and present books on Vietnam’s history, land, people and youth to international friends.

It will partake in some exchanges and bilateral meetings with leaders of the World Federation of Democratic Youth, and youth delegations from Cuba, Laos and Russia. It will also give an arts performance during the event “Asia-Pacific Day”, and participate in other cultural and sporting events with the other countries.
