First ever circuit powerboat race in Vietnam attracts nine teams
VOV.VN - Nine Vietnamese and foreign teams will be competing in a circuit powerboat race in Quy Nhon City, central Vietnam, from March 29 to 31, heard a press briefing on March 28.
This is the first time the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh-Vietnam, the second round of this year’s UIM F1H2O World Championship, has come to Vietnam, said Raimondo di San German, CEO of H2O Racing.
The organisation of the race demonstrates H2O Racing’s commitment to expanding the sport, and offers new experiences to both racers and audiences, he noted.
The Vietnam edition this year features the participation of teams from China, Norway, Portugal, France, the United Arab Emirates, Finland and Vietnam.
The Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship (also F1) is an international motorboat racing competition for powerboats organised by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) and promoted by H2O Racing, hence often referred to as F1H2O.
It is the highest class of inshore powerboat racing in the world, sharing the title of F1, and is similar to Formula One car racing. Each race lasts approximately 45 minutes following a circuit marked out in a selected stretch of water.
With a 40-year history and 300 tournaments held across more than 30 countries, the UIM F1H2O World Championship has drawn the attention of many top racers from around the globe.
