Tennis match connects Vietnamese overseas

A tennis tournament entitled Vitar Ten Years Open will take place on June 16 and 17 at the Belokamennaya tennis centre in Moscow, Russia.

The event is being held to celebrate the 10th establishment of the Vietnam Tennis Association in Russian Federation (VITAR) (June 2008 – June 2018).

The tournament will consist of six competitions: men’s singles/men’s doubles category A, men’s singles/men’s doubles category B, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Through its ten years of development, VITAR is considered one of the top sustainable and humanistic associations of the Vietnamese overseas community.

Besides tennis activities, VITAR regularly organises and takes part in many philanthropic, humanitarian, welfare and healthcare programmes in the community.

Dang Khanh Thien, secretary general of VITAR, said the traditional VITAR Open has a big influence on the Vietnamese overseas community in Russia and other Eastern European nations, “Especially as it has the aspect of connecting each other with the Fatherland,” he said.
