Trang enters second round of YONEX US Badminton Open

Top Vietnamese female badminton player Vu Thi Trang has entered the second round of the YONEX US Open.

Trang defeated sixth seed Iris Wang of the US 21-17, 21-16.

Trang, born in the northern Bac Giang Province, will meet Ayumi Mine of Japan in the next round.

In the mixed doubles event, Trang and Duong Bao Duc beat Elisabeth Baldauf and David Obernosterer of Austria 21-19, 21-11. The pair will face second seed Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba of Poland in the second round.

Meanwhile, Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao also beat Abhishek Ahlawat and Jing Yu Hong of the US 21-18, 21-16. They will meet Sam Magee and Chloe Magee of Ireland in the next round.

In the first round of the men’s doubles, Bao Minh and Duc lost to Yuki Fukushima and Chihara Shida of Japan 21-8, 21-11.
