Vietnam in Group A at Asian futsal tourney

Vietnam are in Group A at the Asian Futsal Championship 2018, according to an announcement by the Asian Football Confederation on December 12.

The 2016 World Cup participants are to play Malaysia, Bahrain and hosts Chinese Taipei.

Group B will include Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Group C includes 11-time winner Iran, Iraq, China and Myanmar. In Group D Thailand will meet Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Jordan.

The opening match will be held on February 1, 2018 while the final is scheduled for 10 days later.

Two teams who rank first and second in their group will advance to the quarter-finals.

Vietnamese players will be summoned later this month and train in HCM City.

They are expected to have a short practice course and two friendly matches in Japan ahead of the competition.

They will leave for Chinese Taipei on January 15.
