Singapore, Indonesia step up cooperation

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong arrived in Semarang on November 13 for his two-day official visit to Indonesia to increase the bilateral collaboration.

PM Lee is scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo for the first time since the latter’s State-level visit to Singapore in July 2015.

The two countries will review progress in the bilateral relations as well as explore ways to expand and deepen cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international developments.

Both leaders will witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in tourism between Singapore ’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.

Other areas of partnership include an agreement on building digital economy capability between Singapore’s Temasek Polytechnic and Indonesia’s Batam State Polytechnic, and an MoU on developing smart city between Singapore’s International Enterprise and Indonesia’s Makassar City.

Singapore and Indonesia are celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017.
